A Walk Through a Semester of Projects

Resume
This design takes a new perspective to the resume. The alternation of the text from the center circles not only has an appealing aspect to the eye but also instantly draws the attention of the reader. Another strong aspect is the graphics which bring the resume together and fills in the white space.

Nursing Home Abuse Flyer
The chosen background of this flyer gives the reader a dark feeling which goes with the severity of the topic. The bright colors add a good contrast to the dark background and tugs at the readers' interest. The main thing that makes this a strong design is that if a child walks up to it they could understand what was going on without context.

Group Project

The border to this project brings the eyes of the reader to the outline and then to the separate section -- it draws the reader in. The front outside cover uses the diagonal design technique which separates it from ones that have simple vertical or horizontal lines and makes it stand out. The first inside page is also a strong aspect due to the logo that incorporates both the clubs and sports into one which allows the reader to fully understand what this is about.

Final Promotional project

Postcard

This postcard has a strong design due to the dark blue border and the light blue in the skirt contradicting one another bringing the reader's eye to the photo. Another strong aspect of this design is how the music staff graphic is used to ease the border of the photo getting cut off.

Logo
This logo has three very strong aspects to it. One is the cello graphic, it's a nice open modern feel to a graphic that will draw the interest to the readers. The next is the use of music notes for the top of the i's that help incorporate the music aspect of the company. The last strong component is the different colored letters at the beginning and end of the company name, that mixed with the different colored text underneath acts as its own box around the name which is the most important aspect of the logo.

Business Card

The design for this business card brings its own personality. The cello is related to strong classical music and the textured background gives off a rustic musical vibe that'll draw the attention of a certain type of music lover.

My name is Shavonne (Vonn), I am 19 years old and I attend Buffalo State college as a communications major with a minor in environmental science and English eduction. I plan on going to grad school to get a PhD in Linguistics. I hope that my main job in the future will be form my linguistics degree and then have a side job with a news paper or freelance writing along with teacher either english or a foreign language. One of my current jobs is at H ofbrauhaus Buffalo, an authentic German restaurant with live German and Polish Polka music every night and I couldn’t be more in love. I love to travel and am very intrigued with languages. I once participated in the Buffalo Dortmund sister city exchange where I went to Germany for three weeks and stayed with a family, I was then eligible to host when I got back and took up the opportunity. I hosted a German for the first four months of my senior year in high school and loved the experience. My senior year of high school I ...

Capricious Communication

Communication is a very fickle thing. We experience, use, and dive into it every second of our lives and yet it is still so misunderstood. Everyone reacts differently to all kinds of communication. You have verbal, visual, audio, written and then you have language barriers those who can’t hear or those who can’t talk and yet we still somehow manage to get across a very simple version of what we want in those situations. It’s truly fascinating to sit back and simply watch how others communicate — or fail to do so. Visual communication seems to be the one type of communication most people respond to the best. Sitting there being able to see how things work instead of being told and having your imagination take flight to see something completely different than what the person explaining it does. Math would be so much worse without visual communications along with learning an instrument or how to cook and so on and so forth. Learning a trade by reading a book with just words or simply list...
